3rd Model US Martial Colt Navy Army Percussion Revolver
Standard late 3rd Model Colt Navy Army, US Military, percussion revolver. Revolver has 7 1/2" oct. barrel, 6 shot & in .36 caliber. US Gov't Military small US under colts patent on left side of frame. Brass back strap with Gov't inspectors S along with the S on the bottom of back strap. Cylinder also has gov't inspectors S out from serial no. The serial no. on this martial Navy Army is 67804 which came out of colts factory in 1857. Serial no. is on the barrel, frame, cylinder, back strap, loading lever & cylinder rod. The wedge has a different sn which is very close & could be one of those when they cleaned these guns during the war they just used buckets & threw their parts in it to clean. Sometimes didn't get the part they threw in. Serial no. on wedge is 7220 (67220). Cylinder has around 80% of the cylinder scene intact & also has Colts Patent 67804. The barrel is marked with -address Saml Colt New.York City & has sn on bottom. Brass trigger guard has M & K stampings on left side. Brass back strap has Inspectors initials & SN. Action is very good on this revolver. Walnut grips are in good used condition & just a trace of inspector's cartouche intact & looks like the cartouche was purposely removed. . The metal is smooth on this Navy Army Colt with nice dark patina throughout. Original post front sight is intact. These were the military US gov't navy army colt revolvers that were used in the early Indian wars & into the American Civil War & were used by both North & South troops. These guns were mainly used by the cavalry. This gun saw action & is still in great condition. These martial navy army colt revolvers are scarce.Â
