Civil War Colt M1862 Police Percussion Revolver, 1863
A really nice conditioned Civil War era Colt M1862 Police percussion revolver in .36 cal. & 5 shot. Revolver has smooth metal with a lot of the metal with original bluing now turning plum color. 5 1/2" round barrel & original front sight & has "Address Col. Saml Colt New-York US America on top. Blue loading lever in great shape with dark blue turning plum patina. All matching serial no. 15344 which came out of Colt's factory in 1863. Serial no. is on the barrel, wedge, frame, trigger guard, cylinder rod, Butt & on back of the cylinder. The frame is stamped with Colts Patent & is smooth metal. The cylinder on this steam line colt revolver is rebated & is fluted. Patina on the cylinder is same as barrel & loading lever & has Pat Sept 10th 1850 stamped in one of the flutes. On back of the cylinder is stamped 44 serial no. One piece walnut grips in excellent condition with most of the original varnish intact. The action is excellent on this Colt police revolver. The brass trigger guard & backstrap has great mellow patina. The trigger guard is stamped 36 cal. & 8. The hammer on these M1862 Colts were blued & this one has turned dark & plum color. A really nice example of the M1862 Civil War era Police Revolver.
