Civil War, Dug in Georgia M1859 US Cavalry Horse Bit

According to tag on Horse bit this US Cavalry Horse bit was dug at Resaca, Georgia in 1980 by C. Smith. Standard early M1859 US Cavalry Horse bit with medium size horse mouth piece. This bit still has the cross bar intact along with the two rings. Side pieces show that this horse bit did not have the US brass boss. The horse bit is solid but the rings show where this bit was in the ground as they are wearing down. These bits were used for the American Civil War in the US Cavalry for the entire war & into the Indian Wars. This is a very nice example of a US Horse bit used in the Cavalry during the War.
