A really nice example of the US Cavalry Sword M1860 Mansfield & Lamb Contract, 1863. Nice smooth 35" slightly curved blade with nice clear markings on ricasso. One side has in oval Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale, RI & on the other side marked U.S. C.E.W. 1863. Brass branched guard is excellent with a little of the original finish intact. Pommel Cap mkd with C.E.W. Wood grip leather cover is there with a couple of exceptions & all the original twisted wire is intact. Peening has not been disturbed. The steel scabbard in good used condition with a couple of use dents & two which I believe were put in by the soldier for rattling. The drag has the correct J.M. inspector mks.
