Civil War, Rare Sheffield Maker, Bowie Knife with NamePhoto Gallery

Excellent Civil War bowie knife with name on sheath. 10" bowie with 6" heavy knife, made for use, knife blade with Corsan Denton Burkekin & Co. markings. Blade smooth with gray patina. Heavy cross guard with silver color & very nice bone grips. this bowie is heavy. Leather sheath which shows use & still has the belt loop intact. Name is made by dotting into the sheath, which looks like W. O. Gaplan. This company made this type bowie in the 1850s & 1860s & was sent to KUS before & during the CW.  Interesting Corsan of that company came to America, to the south, during the war & later wrote a book stating the South could not be defeated.  An excellent CW Sheffield bowie with name.$1000.00
