Civil War Used, Earlier M1859 Enlisitedman's  McCellan Cavalry Saddle

Original Civil War used M1859 Earlier issued US McCellan Trooper's Saddle in good used condition. Nice CW trooper's saddle with all the stirrup, belly, quarter straps intact. Standard M1859 McCellan saddle with rawhide covered seat & tree & dyed black leather skirts, qtr, straps, stirrup straps & hooded wood stirrups. Rawhide in good condition with normal seam separations mainly on bottom of tree & has one small separation in seat in which I repaired. Brass coat strap plates & original front pommel shield with 8 intact. Leather skirts good & all intact. All foot loops & rings intact on tree & sidebars. Belly straps intact & the right side one is stamped with US. This saddle is an earlier issue McCellan because in 1863 all saddle makers had to put their brass tags with their names on all military McCellan saddles going to the US Gov't. This saddle does not have the tag & also has the earlier un spaded D rings on the quarter straps. This saddle has the higher pommel which was found on the Allegheny Arsenal saddle but with no Allegheny markings on the saddle had to have been made by another contract saddle maker. These 1859 McCellan saddles were used by all the Yankee Cavalry units during the Civil war & some went into the Indian wars out west. These original CW McCellan Trooper's Cavalry saddle are getting scarce in any condition. An original CW used M1859 US Cavalry Trooper's Saddle used in the War.Â
