Good Civil War used Ames Manufactory contract M1860 Light cavalry sword & Scabbard. Smooth slightly curved blade with nice patina with US JH 1862 on ricasso of blade & on other side is marked Ames Mfr Co Chicopee  Mass. in scroll. Nice patina on brass guard, pommel & cap with A.D.K. inspector mark on cap. Peening shows blade has not been tampered with. The leather on the wood grip shows wear especially on the left side. All the twisted brass wire wrap is intact. The steel scabbard is also in good used condition. A few use dings in metal with great color. 1862 date on this sword shows that this sword was in used for most of war by the US Cavalry. A nice Civil War used US Ames M1860 Cavalry Sword & Scabbard.
