Classic, Original Confederate Cavalry Dog River  Sword/Scabbard

Classic, un cleaned, Confederate Dog River Cavalry Sword & Scabbard. This CS enlisted mans cavalry sword is 43 1/2" in scabbard. Sword has crude 3 branch guard, dark with high copper content brass as well as the pommel & cap which has off center penning on top. wood grip with Oil cloth cover which is 90%+ intact & has iron wire wrap which is all there. Slightly curved hammered sword blade with flaws & is dark with small areas of rusting. Blade is 35 3/4" L & is 41 1/2"L with hilt. Sheet iron scabbard with wrap around seams, brazed, then leaded. Brass high copper content hanger with dark patina & iron rings. Scabbard has a few dents, a couple look to be made on purpose. Iron drag & looks to not have had a separate throat. This sword has characteristics of the Haiman, Georgia made swords & the Louis Froelich made enlisted mans first model swords, Kenansville. This sword definitely seen use during the Civil War & is a classic un cleaned Confederate made Cavalry Sword & Scabbard.
