Confederate Leech & Rigdon (Memphis Novelty Works) Foot Officer's Sword

A nice example of the Confederate Leech & Rigdon (Memphis Novelty Works) foot officer's sword. This company made swords for the Confederacy during the war having to move from Tennessee to Mississippi to Georgia where they starting making revolvers in late 1862. Sorry no scabbard which would have been made of leather. This sword has the cast brass guard with pierced foliage & has on top engraved tobacco leaves & leaves on bottom of guard which is found on swords by Leech & Rigdon. Laurel leaves on the capstan pommel, with the ovoid rosette on top which is also common on Leech & Rigdon swords. Original Wood grip which had no leather cover & original twisted brass wire all intact. Unmarked 32" nearly straight hammered blade with long unstopped fuller, with forging flaws as typical of CS manufacture. The original double leather throat blade washer intact. Nice mellow patina on the brass & uncleaned blade in nice condition. A really nice example of the CS Leech & Rigdon Foot Officer sword.
