Confederate States Armory Kenansville, NC Cavalry Sword/Scabbard

Great example of the Louis Froelich mfrd Confederate states Armory CS Cavalry Sword with matching Scabbard. Froelich made from 1862-1865, swords, sabers, knives cutlasses & had contract with the Confederate Gov't  during this time. This Kenansville cavalry sword has the smooth type pommel & cap which is known to have been made by Froelich. Sword has a great hammered 35" slightly curved blade with unstopped fuller which has a great patina. The brass branched guard has a mellow patina with casting flaws & roman numeral VIII which matches the scabbard. The original wood grip is intact but the leather cover is long since gone. All the original heavy wire wrap is intact. The original sheet iron scabbard is just the way you want to find them. The scabbard has a great lap seam with mellow brass mounts & iron rings Brass  throat with roman numeral VIII which matches the Sword guard no. The scabbard still has some remnants of the red lacquer still intact. This Confederate Kenansville enlisted mans cavalry sword & scabbard definitely saw the elephant. Sword has seen use but is still in great condition.
