A really nice example of the Confederate Boyle & Gamble, Richmond, Va. Mfrd Foot Officer's Sword. Sorry, no scabbard. Beautiful patina on this Confederate made Foot offier's sword. 36" overall with 30 3/4" slightly curved, hammered, blade with gray brown patina. Brass guard has great dark reddish brown patina & has scattered traces of the original gilt intact. This sword has the Boyle & Gamble feature of the notch at the top of the knucklebow by the pommel & also has the no. 3 stamped on bottom of guard by the ricasso of the blade. Pommel cap has the leaves & guard has the cut out floral designs & also has traces of the original gilt intact. top of guard with reddish brown patina & also has traces of the original gilt & around the top of the counterguard also has area of orignal gilt intact. All original, 100% leather intact on grip as also all the original plain brass or copper wire wrap. Blade has never been off the guard.
