CW, Colt 62 Police Revolver, KD Cockman, 11th Ark

Civil War, Colt M1862 Police Revolver with soldier's name & unit on butt. Standard Colt M62  Police revolver with 5 1/2" rd. barrel. Fluted cylinder in .36 cal. Serial no 25949 which came out of factory in 1863. All matching nos. Flap holster with single rivet in belt loop. Clear Colt address on barrel & pat. Sept. 10th 1858 in flute on cylinder. Nice used wood grips with no. inside to match. Bottom of Wood grip is period carved K. Cockman &  11th Ark. K.D. Cockman Enlisted into the 11th  mounted Ark. CS Infantry in Dec. 1862.   He was with this unit in many battles including Port Hudson,  Mount Ebna & was with the unit when they tried to stop the Unions drive towards Jackson, Miss. Cockman was captured Feb. 4 or 5 1864 near Clinton, Miss. & was received on Feb. 24, 64 at Camp Douglas, Ill. prison. Cockman died at Camp Douglas April 26, 1864 & is buried in Confederate mound at Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago. Have copies of his Day by Day reports & capture & death report. Have history of unit.
