Early S&W Model 3 Russian, Engraved, 3rd Model W/Ivory/Bone Grips

Excellent Smith & Wesson, big Frame, Model 3 Russian Engraved Revolver in .44 S&W Russian Caliber. 6 Shot fluted cylinder with 6 1/2" barrel with the shorter Extractor housing at bottom of barrel & integral front sight. All matching serial numbers (547) which on the cylinder, butt & top brake release. Address on barrel: Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. U.S.A. Pat. Jan 17 &24. 65  July 11 65  Aug. 24 69 Jan 19 1875 Reissue July 25 1871. Metal smooth on this S&W with bluing on the trigger guard with spur & hammer. The barrel, frame, cylinder & back strap mellow gray & may have been nickeled. Nice engraving with waves, floral scenes on barrel, frame, cylinder. Barrel swivel has two arrows engraved on bottom as well the engravings on the sides. The butt of this Russian is marked with 1874 in box, Serial no.  547 & P & the swivel is intact. The cylinder is engraved & has SN. 547 intact. Action is excellent. The original ivory or bone grips are intact with great patina & on inside is carved on one grip initials CLJ. These model 3 S& W Russian revolvers were popular in the old west. Pat Garrett, who killed the Kid, carried this model.
