M1881 Artillery Soldier's Dress Frock Coat of the Indian War period into the Span Am War. Standard blue wool coat with nice red on cuff, Collar & tails. Coat is in good used condition with a few moth holes mainly on sleeves & some on the back. Shoulder boards are missing but can be seen where they were sewn on. Full complement of buttons though some are earlier CW style by Horstmann & some standard IW Waterbury. Most of the buttons are Penn. buttons & the rest are the standard Eagle buttons.The inside of the coat has the early stye green cloth which has some wear & inside the sleeves are white cotton. The tail pockets on the inside of the coat are brown. There may have been a white lining but is missing. The sleeves on the inside below the shouders are marked One side marked : US Inspected Joe Jones N.Y. & the other side marked John L. Hanford N.Y. The lining at the cuffs has what looks to be a name but is hard to read. The Artillery Dress coat is very attractive & shows well with any Indian war display.
