Early, 1840s-50s, original, U.S. Officers, Mock Eaglehead Saddle with quilted seat & Leather hooded stirrup hoods. This is a high quality saddle that was popular in the Mexcian War & used by both sides during the War of Northern Aggression. The saddle is great condition with some old repairs on the seat which is hardly noticeable. The mock Eaglehead saddle has black seat with leather relief work of feathers & of two hunting dogs, stars, etc. The leather covered pommel is worn from carrying a rifle or carbine. Nice russet leather skirts along with all the original quarter straps, hooded wood stirrups, The bottom of the saddle is covered in heavy cotton canvas in good condition. Saddle has inner skirts & straps are intact. Nice early Mexican/Civil War Officers saddle in great condition.
