Nice all original Elgin Cutlass percussion single shot pistol made by Morrill, Mosman & Blair & is the larger size. Serial no. is on the frame under the trigger guard is 67. barrel is 4" & the blade is 8 3/4" in length. The caliber on this Elgin pistol is .41 cal. The Elgin Cutlass pistols were made in the 1830s in Amherst , Mass. George Elgin developed & patented the single shot percussion pistol with an attached knofe blade. The bowie was specifically designed in the bowie, as of Jim Bowie fashion. The action works well. Metal surfaces have a dark patina. This type pistol was only produced in the hundreds & 150 were produced & purchased by the U.S. Navy. A unique single shot pistol inspired by the larger than life man who was James Bowie.
