Scarce Protection Percussion Spur Trigger Revolver, Possible Whitney Manufactor

Manufactured in 1857-1858. Maker is yet unknown as to Flaydermans catalog on page 368 9th edition. Some authorities attribute production to Eli Whitney.There is no maker mark, as the time these were made was when Colt's master patents were expiring. Around 1000 made. Revolver is .28 cal. 6 shot cylinder. Cylinder has rolled engraving of a policeman, two burglars & a traveler with two highwaymen. Revolver has a 3 1/4" octagon barrel. Casehardened frame with blued barrel. Two piece walnut grips in good condition with most of the varnish intact.  A lot of original bluing intact on this revolver as to all the original cylinder scenes intact as well PROTECTION intact on cylnder. Top of cylinder has 10 stamp as well 10 on loading lever rod & part. 709 stamped under the grips on handle. Original brass front sight intact. Action works good on this scarce revolver. This revolver is the first model with cylinder scene & the second model has no cylinder scene. This revolver is in really excellent condition & is a great hideaway or pocket pistol.Â
