Special order From Colt's Factory M1851 Navy Colt, CW Era, With Burl Grips

An excellent example of a special ordered M1851 Navy Colt Revolver with great Wood burl grips. Revolver has bluing intact turning purple mainly on the barrel & on the scene on cylinder. Serial nos. all match with great wedge which had been one number & was changed to this guns sn. The nos. are all colt numbers same on all the numbers on the revolver. Barrel 7 1/2" Oct.in .36 percussion caliber. Top of barrel stamped with "Address Col. Saml Colt New York U.S. America."  The 6 shot cylinder has roll engraved with the scene from Naval battle between Texas & Mexican ships & titled Engaged 16 May 1843. Cylinder scene on this revolver is 85%-90% & has some of the Engaged line still intact. Scene is very clear on the cylinder. Also on cylinder is stamped with Colts Patent No. 1445. Serial no on this Colt is 141445 & is on the cylinder, frame, barrel, trigger guard, cylinder rod, butt & on inside the burl grips back strap channel. This model Navy has the large brass, oval trigger guard & has brass back strap. Brass cone style front sight is intact. This Colt navy has very tight action. Loading lever still has some case hardening along with just a trace on the frame. Trigger guard has .36 cal. & 2 stamping. The metal is smooth on this revolver with bluing turning purple on barrel & same on other parts. Wood Burl grips in very good used condition with still a lot of original varnish intact. The brass has a nice mellow patina on trigger guard & back strap. A really excellent Colt Navy M1851 that someone special ordered from Colt with special Burl grips which have the Serial no. inside the back strap channel on the wood.Â
