U.S. Starr Cavalry cartridge Carbine, CW.

A nice example of the Starr cartridge Cavalry Carbine. These carbines were mfrd by Starr Arms Co. Yonkers, NY & were delevered to the US Gov't in March 1865 & were issued to troops. -The carbine is .52 cal. Rimfire, single shot , falling block breech with 21" round barrel. All furniture is iron. Walnut stock & has sling ring mounted on left side of breech. Serial nos. continued on from the percussion models. This carbine sn is 32479. Metal is smooth on this carbine except for the butt plate,  with some original bluing intact on various parts. Action is very good on this carbine. Gov't inspectors stamps on various metal parts like the hammer, lever assembly, butt plate, rear sight & hammer. Lock plate stamped with Starr Arms Co. Yonkers, NY, breech area stamped Starrs' Patent Sept. 14, 1858, barrel stamped Starr Arms Yonkers NY. Front & rear sights both intact. Walnut stock in good used condition with normal use dings & scratches. Soldier's initial L on right side of back stock. A nice conditioned US Cavalry Starr cartridge carbine
