US Model 1842 Percussion Pistol, Johnson
A nice example of the US Model 1842 Percussion pistol made by Ira N. Johnson. 14" overall muzzleloader single shot in .54 cal. Brass backstrap, trigger guard & barrel band & sideplate. Lockplate marked, US I.N. Johnson with Middtn Conn 1853 behind the hammer. The round barrel marked, US S K & P with Steel on the side. All the brass furniture has Gov't inspectors initials. Trace of Gov't inspectors cartouche on left side of stock. Action excellent. Metal smooth & markings clear. Wood in great condition. Swivel ramrod intact. Johnson broke off with Aston in making these pistols & had a 10000 contract with the US Gov't in making these M1842 pistols. An above average Johnson M1842 Percussion US Pistol.
