Worn Confederate Burlap Haversack, 16th Mississippi

Worn Survior of the Civil War a Confederate Black burlap Cover haversack with Canvas bag. The Back burlap cover is gone. The cover has in Gilded letters "Rifle Co, a Five Pointed Star & 16th Regt. The cover has a lot of worn areas &  attached to a canvas bag at the top originally & has been resewn at a much later time. Canvas bag has wear & has in hard to read at bottom left " A Wilkinson Co. K , 16 Miss & something else below which I can't make out.  Co. K of the 16th Mississippi Infantry were called the Wilkinson Rifles & were name & the men out of Wilkinson County, Miss. I found a Ancus Wilkinson in the rosters of the 16th Miss. & he was listed as Killed. The 16th Mississippi Infantry were in most of the larger battles in the East. Some of the battle they were in were Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania Court House, Petersburg & many others. Although worn these Haversacks with unit names on the front are seldom seen. A very colorful piece that needs more research
